My story I was born on a Friday night - May 23rd, 2003, at 10:30 pm. I was the first of a very small litter; I only have one brother, Baghira, who was born 2 hours later. My mommy is Miss Marple, a tabby lady, who was 4 years old when we were born. We were her third litter. She gave birth to us in Heike's and Ede's bed; Heike and Ede are the humans she's living with. They also have a son, Benny, and a boxer dog, Ronja, who was pregnant at the time of our birth. Later, when we were 4 weeks old, she got 6 pups. However, the first two or three weeks of our lives Baghira and I spent in a little cradle next to Heike's and Ede's bed. Many visitors came to see us, and to tell Ede and Heike how cute we were. One of them was my future meowmie, Kirsten. She saw me for the first time when I was only 20 hours old, and she had planned to adopt me. She wanted me as a little sister for her Luna, who was a single cat. When we grew older and were able to walk, we moved into Benny's room, which was a real cat paradise because of all the toys there! There was also a scratching post where we had our first climbing lessons. Our mommy also showed us how to use a litter box. With the weeks passing, we explored the entire house and finally, Heike allowed us to enter the garden. The pups have already been born at that time so there was always something interesting to watch. My future meowmie came several times a week to visit me and took tons of photos. I had a great time in the garden with Baghira and the 6 puppies. Then, when I was 11 weeks old, something happened: My future meowmie came to visit me again, but this time she brought a box with her. I got a bit confused when Heike and Ede cuddled me one last time to say good bye because I didn't know what "good bye" means, but then I was put into the box and they brought me into a car, a stinking machine that makes an awful noise. And it was hot, so terribly hot in there! I cried and cried but no one came to help me! After a couple of minutes which seemed to be an eternity, we arrived at my new home. My new meowmie brought me into her appartment, where Luna was waiting for us - and I really cannot say she gave us a nice welcome! She growled and hissed at me, and didn't want me to come near her! Stupid girl! Anyway, I decided to show her who's the boss, so I took over her scratching post the second day! Did the same with her favourite cushion the third day, and Luna gave in. On day No. 4, meowmie left us alone to go to work. Now suddenly Luna seemed to have realized it's not too bad having company! She became much friendlier and decided it won't do any harm to share her things with me, and within a week we became the best of friends. As you can see from the photos here on this website, she has adopted me as her baby meanwhile and even lets me suckle. It's nice to have her as a friend. Meanwhile, I have very well adjusted to my new home, and I'm not missing the outdoors anymore. If only meowmie was more tolerant! At least a hundred of times a day she's telling me the best things are no-no's, it's really annyoing. But I'm doing it when she's not looking! ;) |
